Former development director for the city, Susan is president of Rural/Metro Corporation's Southern Emergency Response Group, which includes operations in Tennessee, Alabama, New Jersey, and a portion of New York City. She serves on the boards of the Tennessee Housing Development Authority, the Greater Knoxville Sports Corporation, Nucleus Knoxville, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She was in the 1994 Leadership Knoxville class, and holds a master of science degree in planning. Her goal as commissioner is to consider technical and legal aspects, plus community impacts, in promoting quality development.

A planner and landscape architect, Trey is principal of The Benefield-Richters Company, an architecture, planning, and landscape architecture firm. His experience includes designing plans for community parks, colleges, industrial complexes, resorts, and various residential developments. He worked on the redevelopment plan for Maryville’s historic downtown district, and led the planning for the revitalization of downtown Lenoir City. A resident of west Knox County, he is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the American Planning Association, and the American Institute of Certified Planners. His goals as planning commissioner are to promote socially and environmentally responsible development, minimize sprawl, and encourage more citizen participation in the planning process.

Herb is a retired public safety officer from TVA and a noted community volunteer. He helps the YMCA, the AARP, the East Knoxville Hospitality Pantry, and the East Knoxville Optimist Club. He also is block captain of Shangri-La Hills Subdivision. He received the 1998 NAACP Unsung Heroes Award and the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority's 1991 Gold Award for the Enduring Black Family. As a planning commissioner, he wants to encourage a balance of parks, greenways, and homes, as well as more public participation and cooperation in community development, especially in the Central Business District's northern corridor.

Ray is a business developer and entrepreneur who has started and managed businesses in health care, security, business management, and financial consulting. Currently he is owner and chair of The Anesis Group and SafeT Security & Electronics. Ray is a lifelong Knoxvillian who spent his early years in East Knoxville; he later attended West High and has a business degree from UT. He is active in various community and professional groups, including the River Club Homeowners Association. His goals are to promote orderly, responsible growth and support economic development while respecting property rights and neighborhood character.

Mamosa is a retired educator who has held positions at many local schools, and most recently was principal of Inskip Elementary. She currently is president/CEO of the Community Agency for the Rebuilding of East Knoxville Enterprises, Inc. She has served on the board of the Knox Housing Partnership and the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership, and belongs to the National Education Association. Phil French is business manager/CPA at Gentry, Tipton, Kizer & McLemore, P.C. Born and raised in Blount County, he has lived in Knox County since 1967 and has worked at various middle and high schools as a teacher, coach, and assistant principal. He was a member of the Knoxville/Knox County Unification Charter Commission and belongs to the Doyle Area Homeowners Association. Recently he was selected for the 1999 Leadership Knoxville Class.

Dick is a self-employed builder-developer who lives in south Knoxville. He has been president of both the local and state Home Builders Association, and is a life director of the National Association of Home Builders. He also is a founder and trustee of the Home Builders Association Self Insured Trust. This is his second time as an MPC commissioner; he served two consecutive terms from 1987-1995, including several years as chair. His goal is to help the city grow in a thoughtful and orderly manner, while dealing with conflicting viewpoints in a fair and open-minded way.

Steve is director of business management for the Home and Garden Television network, where he has been employed since July 1999. Previously he worked for Law's Interiors as chief financial officer. He graduated from Gibbs High School and Berea College (KY), and is a licensed CPA. A resident of northeast Knox County, he is especially interested in the future of the area's rural sectors, and his goal is to find a balance between development and community concerns.

Mark is an attorney who focuses on real estate and environmental matters. He is also secretary of the West High School Foundation, chair of the state Supreme Court District 2 Regional Investigating Committee, past chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Knoxville Bar Association, and a member of the U.S. District Court Mediation Panel. A former high school teacher, he is an adjunct professor at the UT College of Law. His goals are to promote reasonable growth while preserving neighborhood character and avoiding sprawl. Randy is an electrical contractor and chairs the boards of several local firms, most notably Massey Electric Company. A lifelong Knoxvillian, he attended Doyle High School and graduated from Maryville College with a B.A. in chemistry. He is a founding member of Nucleus Knoxville, past president of the South Knoxville Rotary Club, and serves on the Transportation Committee of the Knoxville Area Chamber Partnership. Before becoming director of the R. Larry Smith & Associates Insurance Agency, Larry worked a number of years for the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency. He is active in numerous professional and service organizations. The list includes the Boys and Girls Club of Knoxville, Boy Scouts of America, Halls and Fountain City Business & Professional Associations, and UT Alumni Board. Larry is past Chairman of the Knox County Republican Party and chair of the 2003 Dogwood Arts Festival. As planning commissioner, Larry plans to promote environmentally safe development, and support park and greenway efforts.

Jean is a registered nurse who worked at Fort Sanders Hospital for many years, and was former president of the Women's Auxiliary to the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. She served on the Knoxville City Council for 28 years, including vice mayor in 1982. She also served previously on the MPC (1973-74), the Knox County Historic Zoning Commission, and the Tennessee Municipal Board. She is currently a member of the City Wrecker Commission, the Knox County Tourist Board, and the Utilization Research Board at UT Hospital. Her goals are to encourage public participation and cooperation between developers and neighborhoods, and to support greenways, parks, and historic preservation.

A retired educator, Patsy worked for Knox County Schools as a teacher (Lincoln Park and Alice Bell) and a principal (Ridgedale Elementary), and later as a system-wide supervisor for various areas. A north Knoxville resident, her past memberships include the Kiwanis Club Board of Directors, the United Way Allocations Panel, and the 1993 Leadership Knoxville class. Her goal as a planning commissioner is to encourage development which will both expand our tax base and complement our area's natural beauty and resources.

David is a retired arborist who lives in north Knoxville. He currently is a member of the National Arborists Association and the International Society of Arborists. In the past he served on the City of Knoxville Tree Board and attended the Knoxville Citizens Police Academy. He also is a past member of the Tennessee Vegetation Management Association. He cites parks and greenways as a special concern.
